First I have verified that I am staying on the tgv-europe website and have not been diverted to anything else. Second, I have verified that I am using Great Britain as my "country." I was able to purchase TGV tickets from Paris to Dol de Bretagne on Sept. 9th and was able to use the option of printing them myself. I made the purchase, have printed both tickets, even though they are rather "funny looking" in their blurry graphic background that makes it somewhat difficult to read. (I checked my computer and have Adobe 7.0. It said I needed at least 4.0 so that should be fine.) Here comes my question. For my next leg of the same trip I'm trying to purchase 2 tickets from Dol de Bretagne to Dinan. I'm not given the option to print my own tickets but I can select "Retreival In a French Station." I understand that I have to present the same credit card I make the online purchase with. But it also says a PIN number will be needed. I do not have a PIN number so do I need to call my credit card company and establish one. I've never used the card for cash advances and don't intend to? Or is the PIN the 3 digit code on the back of my card; which I will have to enter on the website to make the transaction? I made the transactions separate b/c I was not given the option to print at home or retreive at a french station by trying to buy the trip with a connection. In doing it that way I was only given the option of the automatic machine and knew that I did not have a "chip" credit card with PIN #. Sorry to be so wordy, am trying to be thorough but concise! Thanks!
I believe that the train you are trying to book online is a "no book" regional train. Seats are unreserved. Says so on the webiste where you view the train run information. Just show up, buy your ticket, validate it, get on and find a seat. It's only a 23 minute train journey. I haven't riden a regional train in France but if like Italy, if the seats have been taken, you can stand. It's like the local bus. Somebody gets off, you get their seat.
Hi, The regional trains in France have " t e r" written across it. No reservations on those. As pointed out just validate the ticket prior to boarding. It's first come first serve on the ter trains as regards to the seating. When it's crowded, it can be very crowded...but fun.
