Trenitalia Question - getting actual tickets

Am I reading the website correct that I cannot have physical tickets sent to me outside Italy? The choices appears to be the email prinout method or print when you get to the station. Is this correct or am I missing something?

Jon...that is right. They will only send tickets to Italian addresses. "Ticketless" means you get a confirmation e-mail with a PNR code on it. Simply carry that onto the train, find your seat, and sit down. When the conductor comes along, he/she will punch your PNR into a little PDA, and a teeny receipt will be printed on a teeny printer...very cool! This PNR code can also be used to pick up tickets from the stations' ticket machines, if you're travelling on a train that doesn't have the "ticketless" option. Just punch in your PNR code, your first and last names, and select "internet"...it'll take you from here (the machines will operate in English.)

BUT -- the other side of that discussion is that there is no need for tickets in advance. We are just back from three weeks in Italy and never bought a ticket more than a day in advance. There is no advantage to buying a ticket on this side.

Me and the wife bought a France/Italy pass you can buy a Italy pass only for the amount of days you want and have the tickets sent to your house when you get to Italy just date your ticket each day and get on the train
