Trenitalia -- Problem or My High Anxiety?

Hi all! I leave in a month for Italy and am finalizing my itinerary and pre-purchasing several tickets.

I bought three tickets last week via Trenitalia app, one each day for three days as I was finalizing those days' itineraries. They were all bought early morning AZ time so no message on the app about buying tickets for the next day that I seen before, plus the tickets are for September. One out the three is correct for everything. But I'm anxious (worried?) about the other two which were bought first.

Here's the problem: email confirmation and printable paper ticket have correct day, time, route, seat. But when I add them to Apple Wallet, the date is a day earlier, eg 3/9 instead of 4/9; this problem is only in Apple Wallet. These two tickets did not and will not show in My Journeys in the app, but when I enter the PNR code they come up with the correct information. Weird.

I bought tickets through the app on previous trips with no problems. Should I be worried? My thought is just use the paper ticket or have the app open showing the ticket using the PNR and forgo the convenience of Apple Wallet.

Thanks!
Kathy

Sounds like a time difference problem embedded in the coding. I know nothing about electronics, or even what I just wrote, but I’ve had problems with Google calendar when I’m loading an event that will take place in a different time zone. If I don’t change the time zone, it keeps reverting to a different time or day.
So just use your paper ticket, or the email confirmation.

If it were me, I would go ahead and have the paper ticket or email handy as Elizabeth mentioned but I would still try to use the ticket in your Apple Pay just to see. You never know when that information will come in handy and if you know about it now, you won’t be stressed if it happens again in the future.

I would not be surprised of your Apple wallet starts displaying correct time and dates for your tickets once you are in Italy. It may be converting to your local time. Time difference between AZ and Italy is quite significant.

If the printouts show the correct time you are fine. And the app is very handy too, and indeed you can even add tickets to it if you just know the PNRs (are you reading this SBB?). You may have forgotten to consistently log in when purchasing, which may explain why some of your tickets were already visible in the app, and some weren't.

Thanks Mardee and WengenK. Appreciate your info. Instead of stressing, I'll use the paper tickets.
Right now I don't need to add more stress to my life. Before we left for 10 days in Oregon and Washington, we found a plumbing leak in the wall between two bathrooms. Leak is fixed but it's like living in a construction site for months because of some custom work. Good thing about that is the master bath is finally getting remodeled! My hubby is very capable managing the contractor while I'm gone.

WengenK, you may have found the answer. But I seldom log out of the Trenitalia app. But I have to use the app on phone's cellular data because our WiFi provider Cox Communications and some Italian websites/apps have communication problems. It's an unfixable known issue for the past three years.

What you can also do is take a screenshot of the tickets with the correct information and have that to show. I've shown "screenshot" tickets to conductors and never had a problem. They just want a clear qr code.

Thanks Frank. I did make screen shots and store them in Notes. Good to know they will be accepted.
