Trenitalia- maybe I am just not too savvy

Hi Folks

I seem to have some problems navigating Trenitalia website to purchase tickets. I am looking to travel from Venice to Siena-two adults on October 10, 2016 in am and I don`t seem to get any results. Any advice , insight you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike,

If you ck for an earlier date say a Monday in June you will get many more choices. They change the schedule twice a year (I believe) so some time in June (not sure of the specific date) they will update the schedule for the rest of the year. Also you can't buy tickets more then 120 days out, but you can get an idea of the train schedule by plugging in an earlier date. Also make sure you set the time for early morning so you get to see the full compliment of choices.

You are looking way too for ahead. You will need to take a Regionale train from Florence to get to Siena, and Trenitalia has not officially scheduled any of these trains past June 12. If you look at June 6, you will see there is a connection every hour starting at 7:25 am. Second, you cannot buy tickets more than 4 months ahead of time. So if you check back after June 10, you should see all the options. The new Regionale schedules should be out by then.

Ditto to Sam. The tickets for October aren't available yet.

Hi Mike, I set up a booking alert through Loco2 to notify me when the cheap tickets on Trenitalia were loaded - very helpful because they were loaded a couple of weeks before I would have checked.

Mike,

When tickets are available, you can also purchase these at www.captaintrain.com at the same prices as offered by Trenitalia.

On the trip from Venice to Siena, you'll be travelling via high speed train from Venice to Florence, and then probably a Regionale to Siena. For the final segment, you could also travel by Bus from Florence to Siena (about 1.25 hours). The advantage of the Bus is that you'll be dropped in the centre of town, rather than the bottom of the hill where the rail station is located.
