I'm planning a trip to Italy in July and I was looking at trains from Florence to Rome, Rome to Naples, and Naples back to Rome several days ago at trenitalia.it. I was able to type in dates and times (for instance Florence to Rome on July 10 at 6:30), find trains and click on a "Buy" button to purchase tickets. The past two days I have had no luck. The same trains appear, but I cannot buy online (instead of a "Buy" icon/button, the icon says "No"). If I click on the "Purchase Guide">"National tickets", it says that when the icon says "No", you must purchase these tickets through a travel agency. Why was I allowed to purchase tickets online a few days ago? Why are there ZERO tickets available to purchase online now (no matter what dates I type in, there are no tickets with the "Buy" icon).
Can anyone shed some light on this?
