Trenitalia Booking Error

I'm trying to book a train from Genoa to La Spezia in July. I've tried on the Trenitalia website and each time I get a message saying Error 406: Enough seats not available. Even though when I go to select my seats, there are clearly plenty of available seats.

I have also tried on italiarail, loco2 and trainline. I got similar error messages on each of these as well.

I have tried on different internet browsers, different devices, different ticket types...all with no luck.

Looks like others on here have had this problem in the past, but I couldn't find a solution.

Any ideas?

I think the summer schedules just went live from Trenitalia. Probably just. Try again tomorrow. Shouldn't be a big rush to buy before they sell out.

Website was down for maintenance 8 hours ago. Yes, I get the 406 error, even though they show 1st class SuperEconomy tickets available for 9.90 EUR, same price as 2nd class on the day I looked at. Try again later.

Still not working. Is it worth trying other booking sites? Seems like they probably won't work either because they're all connected to trenitalia.

No, it's not worth expending any more effort than necessary. Even the cheapest tickets are not going to sell out in a day and even the most expensive tickets are cheap. Most customers aren't even looking, yet.

Some of the Genova - La Spezia trains will be Regionale and there's absolutely no reason to book those in advance. You can easily buy those in Italy, either from a Kiosk or staffed ticket office. However, be sure to validate locally purchase tickets prior to boarding the train on the day of travel, or you'll risk hefty fines.

While there are a few Freccia and Intercity trains on that route too, the discounted tickets likely won't sell out in the next few days. Even if you were to buy tickets on the day of travel, second class Freccia Base fare is only €16 PP.
