When making on-line reservations and asked to indicate departure date, the departure times have an asterisk stating "solution applies to next day". When selecting your chosen departure time, it does indeed apply to the next day! Nonsensical! I could enter the day before my actual departure. Is this the way it works? Thanks,

Geoff, you are most likely looking out too far. The updates for the Trenitalia website will take place in mid-June. If you are looking beyond, you will get strange web pages. Yes, the asterik does mean the next day. Also, pay attention to the time on your search. Placing a late time or accepting a late time without adjustment will also cause the asterik. I usually post an early time of 04 or 05 when I search. That way I get the very early runs for the day. I can always click on NEXT to see later trains. If you want to see the schedules, just put in a day between now and the end of May on the same day of the week you expect to travel. You'll see the schedules.
