Trenetalia train question

In looking at the seating options it gives an option for window aisle and median. Curious what is median? Does that mean the seats face each other?

I've never heard of a median seat. I've sat in the ones I describe above. However, there is a table in the middle. CLICK HERE to see some pictures of the inside of a 2nd class car on the Eurostar from our website friend Ron in Rome. Also, there is a picture of the 2nd class ICPlus train. The pictures are originally from www.seat61.com.

Some trains have compartments, which offer six seats (three seats facing each way). I presume that the median would be the middle seats in such a compartment.

Ya I sort of thought that at first too but this was coming up for first class seats from Venice-Florence

I remember that on the Eurostar Italia I took from Florence to Venice there were a few compartments in first class (not many, but a couple). I presumed it was either more expensive to reserve in there, or maybe you needed to reserve all six at once... or maybe they simply were reserved more quickly than the other seats. Anyways, that might be the situation here.

It is very common on the high-speed train carriages for seats to face each other. Even in 2nd class. Half look forward and half look backwards. Where the seats touch back-to-back, it forms a V at the floor level where you can place a 22" or so roller bag.
