Travelling to Austria, Sweden & Norway

Hello, we are a family of 5 adults travelling to Austria, Sweden & Norway. We land in Vienna and want to go straight to Salzburg where we will stay for 4 days. Then go to Stockholm for 4 days and Oslo for 4 days. We will travel aroubd the cities via rail . We want to now what is the best way to commute from Vienna airport to salzburg. we will have a lot of luggage and therefore train travel could be difficult. How expensive will a taxi be? Also any other place you recommend us to see in the above destinations , do tell us
Thanks

"How expensive will a taxi be?" (Vienna airport to Salzburg)It's 300km (190 mi) from Vienna to Salzburg. I don't think anyone here has ever tried to figure out the taxi fare from Vienna to Salzburg.

Hire a car, split 5 ways will be much less costly than a taxi from Vienna to Salzburg. But more importantly, how much luggage could you have that makes train travel difficult?

Hello Minjal.

A lot of the car rental companies don't charge a one way drop off fee inside Austria. I know Hertz does not in particular. We just did the same thing two weeks ago.

For 5 people with luggage, car will definitely bee cheaper. Train run 44EUR per person, and after the airport/flight might be a bit much. - Plus you'd have to pay to get to the train station.

For $150-200 ish, you could probably rent a nice big van that would take all of you + luggage.

PS - Rick also recommends a private cabbie for hire, Johann - he's in Rick's books, and does take people to Salzburg.

Have fun!
