We are planning to fly into Paris this summer(CDG) and would like to take the train directly to Colmar to stay a few days. Any suggestions as to the best way to make this happen?Joanne

There are some trains directly from CDG to Strasbourg, where you change for Colmar, but they may not coincide with your flight. Try bahn.de for schedules. If they aren't, you can get the RER from CDG to Paris Gare du Nord. Paris Gare de l'Est, where trains to Colmar leave from (again you may need to change at Strasbourg depending on time of day) is within easy walking distance from Nord. You will get cheaper tickets if you book in advance - book at www.raileurope.co.uk, claim to live in the UK and pick your ticket up from a French station.

You'll get even better discount fares if you book well in advance (up to three months allowed) at www.tgv-europe.com. To avoid being bumped to the US Rail Europe site, choose Great Britain as your country of residence.
