TRavelling from Paris CDG to Rothenburg

We are travelling from Paris to Rothenburg and plan to take train then rent a car. What city should we stop at on the train? Thinking Mannheim but having trouble finding schedule and ticket prices

With Bahn purchase-in-advance Europa Spezial tickets, you can probably get Europa-Spezial Frankreich ticket from Paris to Mannheim for the same price as to Rothenburg. No reason to rent a car in Mannheim (or ever).
