Travelling FROM Orly to hotel (on RER B line) and travelling TO CDG from hotel

We will be arriving at Orly for our Paris trip and departing from CDG. Our hotel is on the RER B line; closest stop Port Royal.

In researching on the RATP website it appears that only certain stops are listed on getting to and from the airports. (Which would make Denfert-Rochereau the next closest stop). Are they listed on there as a timeframe on how long it takes to get to each airport or are they the only stops available to take to get to and from the Airports?

In saying this also - if we get on the RER B line (in the right direction to CDG) do we have to transfer at all?

I am having a difficult time in obtaining costs to and from the airports as I want to avoid getting a Paris Visite pass as it hardly seems worth it.

Any information regarding this would be appreciated!!

Probably the easiest way to get to Port Royal is the Orlybus to Denfert-Rochereau for 7.50 euro, followed by a 1.80 euro t+ ticket on the RER B to Port Royal, just one stop away. You might want to pick up a "carnet", which is just a pack of 10 t+ tickets for 14.10 euro and use the rest to get about Paris during your stay.

To get to CDG from Port Royal just get a ticket for the trip for 9.75 euro and make sure you get on the RER B train that has "Aeroport Charles de Gaulle" marked as its destination. That will take you direct to the airport.

Some DIY tools:
The Aeroports de Paris website, official info for both Orly and CdG, has lots of useful advice, both inside the airports and about access.

The RATP which runs the regional trains, buses and subways also is a rich source of information:

This blog can help with navigating airports and train stations (and has just been freshly spruced up): http://www.parisbytrain.com

Learning how to use these aids now will make you a more proficient traveller when you are on your own in Paris.

j&d,

One of the easiest methods to get from ORY into Paris is to use the OrlyVal automated train to Antony station, where you can connect with the RER "B" to Port Royal. As I recall, you can buy tickets for both trains at ORY. If you're planning to buy a Paris Museum Pass, you can also purchase that at ORY.

For the trip from Paris to CDG, again connect with the RER "B" at Port Royal (direction Aeroport Charles de Gaulle). The two airports are at opposite ends of the RER "B" line.

One other point to mention. I've seen a few comments from time-to-time about pickpockets and scammers riding the RER, but have never personally had any problems. Just the same, be sure to watch your luggage carefully.

As mentioned in the previous reply, the Paris By Train website is an excellent resource.

The Orlyval train is about 2.75 euro more pp than the Orlybus. Two people with luggage, a 40 euro cab ride starts to look good as well.
