We are planning to visit southern Spain in the fall. Is Toledo on the main rail line between Madrid and Savilla (thus we could stop for a day or two in Toledo on our way between these two cities) or do we have to go to Toledo on a day trip from Madrid and then return to Madrid to go to Savilla? Thankyou
Roger
Toledo is at the end of a branch line from Madrid - you will have to return to Madrid to get the train to Sevilla.
Like Phillip said, you have to return to Madrid, but we still found it made sense to visit Toledo immediately after Seville. The connection times were reasonable and you don't have to take the time to return to lodgings in Madrid and trek back to the train station.
Toledo is only a 30 minute ride from Madrid on what amounts to a commuter line. There are trains almost hourly. The Sevilla and Toledo trains both depart from Atocha Station, so it's easy to make a connection.
Thank you for the information
