I want to drive from Milan to the Romantic Road in Germany? Has anyone ever done this and how long does it take?

i just got back from a roadtrip along the romantic road.
and just to let you know, there really isn't any signs that direct you to the castles. there'll be a brown sign beforehand indicating a castle is nearby, well it's the very next exit! once you've gotten off that exit, there aren't any signs for that castle. sometimes they are over 15 miles away from the autobahn. just keep in mind that they are always situated on a hill, so go towards high land. also not all castles are awesome. some are really boring. but definitely check out neu schwanstein. it's fantastic. pack a lunch beforehand, the lines are long. wear good walking shoes (it's a steep climb) if you like walking, only pay for the bus ride going up and hike back down. it's about a 30 min. walk down. BUT WELL WORTH IT!!!

make sure you eat there. the venison is spectacular
