Travelling from (India) -> LHR London -> RDU (Religh USA). Custom and immigration check

[Updated with details]
I(nationality - Indian) am travelling from New Delhi(India) -> Heathrow LHR London -> RDU (Religh USA) with connecting flights.
I have a layover time of 5H at LHR (London) Airport,
New Delhi -> London (LHR) By British Airways
LHR -> RDU(USA) By American Airlines

Am I need to re-check in luggage in LHR or I will not need to do this and I will get luggage in RDU and there I will need to finish Custom and immigration. Please clear my doubts.

I will appreciate your valuable suggestions.

It depends on whether you have booked this as one through ticket or two separate tickets.

  • If you have booked it as one through ticket, your luggage with be "checked through" to your final destination, you will not see it at Heathrow. You will also stay "airside" and not go through immigration.
  • If you have purchased two independent tickets, you will need to collect your luggage at Heathrow, and check in again for the next flight.

British Airways and American Airlines are partners. In New Delhi, have them check your bag through to Raleigh (RDU). You won't see it until then.

When you get to London (Heathrow) you will have to change terminals. You arrive at Terminal 5 and depart from Terminal 3. Go to the website below and fill in the form. It will give you instructions on how to change terminals without having to go through immigration or customs. (Make sure you stay airside.)

You will go through security again at Terminal 3.

When you arrive in Raleigh, you will go through immigration, get your bags and go through customs.

You haven't indicated your nationality which will determine if you need a transit visa of some type.
