Travelling Calgary to Paris

What's the best way to travel Calgary to Paris? Would a flight/rail connection be a good option versus a connecting flight?

Meredith, I agree with Doug. Your question needs to be clarified.

I often use Calgary for flights to Europe these days and direct flights are possible, depending on what time of year you're travelling and your destination. I always look for the most direct flight, with as few connections as possible (airport layovers are annoying!).

You might have a look at the Air Transat website. For example, on June 11 they have a flight departing Calgary / YYC at 23:10, arriving Paris / CDG at 16:05 the following afternoon (flight time 8H 55M).

The charter flights from Vancouver / YVR seem to begin earlier in the year, but there are departures from Calgary too. On flights that I've taken in the past, the plane that leaves Vancouver stops in Calgary for an hour or so to pick up more passengers (and hopefully fill the plane).

Happy travels!

I say fly. There's an ocean in your way. ;)

Seriously, I don't follow your question. How else would you get to Paris from Canada than by plane? If your question is about your choices connecting through London, you should compare the cost of a connecting flight with the Eurostar through the Chunnel. I've got to think a connecting flight from London to Paris will cost less and be faster and more convenient.

Meredith....I think you'll find the cheapest way will be to book the cheapest flight you can find directly into Paris (Air Transat, as has been suggested, flies from Calgary....and AirCan may offer comparable rates). Your other possible destinations would be London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Luxembourg city, and Frankfurt to connect to Paris by train. But I think the airfare would have to be several hundred dollars cheaper than Calgary-Paris direct to make up for the extra expense and hassle of getting from the airport to the train and into Paris. If you can find one that IS several hundred dollars cheaper, then go for it.....come back to this board first, though, to get some tips on where, how, and how expensive the train connection will be.
