TRAVELLING AROUND EUROPE. TRAIN? AIR?

Hello. I am planning a low budget trip around europe for september-october 2008... and i want to go to many places. Amsterdam, barcelona, rome, venice, florence, berlin, frankfurt, prague.... i havent decided yet... but i have time to make reservations by air in low cost aircompanies.. and i dont know if it would be better to go by train or by air.. or getting the train pass for the hole month. I would like you to help me on deciding how to travell and also wich of the cities are worth to go, and wich ones are to far away or are too expensive to go to..
Thanks!

I may be planning a trip to Germany to visit friends in Krefeld. From this point on a map, I can see it is around 300 miles to Paris and maybe the same to London. Are these destinations easy and quick to get to by train?

Your best train choices depend upon several factors such as if you like the idea of taking night trains on long routes, and which countries have relatively cheap point-to-point fares and which have higher fares. If you're willing to book well in advance and travel at fixed dates and times, point-to-point tickets can cost a lot less than a railpass.

Click on the Railpasses tab at the top of the page you're looking at now. Also see the railpasses section at www.seat61.com.

Budget airline search engines will tell you which airlines, if any, fly your routes. See www.whichbudget.com and www.skyscanner.net. Be aware that budget airlines often use outlying airports so you will have to allow extra time and expense getting to and from them. The longer you wait to book, the higher the fare.

If you give us some possible itineraries, it will be easier to tell you whether taking the train or flying would be better between any two particular cities.

thank you for your answer...
well, the thing is i am trying to see where i go depending on the travelling costs... but i have some cities i am positive i will visit...
amsterdam (and brussels), rome (venice and florence if it isnt too very expensive).. and mi arriving city will be either madrid or frankfurt, because those are the cheaper flights from here (kayak.com). frankfurt is a little bit cheaper ($70) but i dont speak german.. do you know if you can get along well in germany speaking english?.
If i arrive in madrid, ill probably visit barcelona again (ive been there only for 1 night and 2 days). If i arrive at frankfurt, i would like to go to berlin... or munich. I have a friend in OSLO.... but i think it is a little off the road... what do you think?
