Traveling with infants in taxis

We will be traveling to Germany in December and taking our then-to-be 11 1/2 month old son with us. We plan to use taxis to get us to hotels from the airport and train stations. I've read that Germany has strict rules (as should be) that children must travel in infant car seats. We won't have a car seat with us...what do we do?

This is about Frankfurt, but taxi's are the same in other cities.

Are taxis available with safety seats/retention systems for children?
Yes, in Frankfurt a number of taxis offer safety seats for children. While booking please refer to the fact that you require a safety seat for a child. According to German traffic law, children with a body length of under 150 centimetres (approx. 60 inches) must be secured by an adequate seat while travelling by car. It is not however, compulsory for a taxi driver to carry along such a seat. For this reason we ask your indulgence if a taxi driver requests you to use another taxi because he does not have a safety seat for children.
