Greetings all,
My question is a little out of the ordinary, however I have received such helpful responses to my questions in the past, I'm hoping to gain some traveling insight. A close friend will be moving from Hawaii to Anchorage Alaska. She would very much like to bring her dog with her. The dog is not a service dog, nor is it small enough to fit in a carrier on seat of the plane. It also is a mixed breed, that may have some pugnose genes. Several airlines do not allow these types of breeds in the cargo area due to problems with breathing and changes in air pressure. Any suggestions on how to transport this animal family member and which airline companies or private companies are best in terms of safety and reliability? Thanks
Have you tried islandpetmovers.com? They move animals via cargo plane to/from Hawaii and LA. I know LA is a long way from Anchorage but it would be possible to rent a car in LA to either drive north to the Alaska ferry terminal in Washington state or even drive all the way to Anchorage. Or even buy a car in California if she’s going to need one in Alaska. Or ship her car to the states if she owns one?
None of this sounds cheap but it is doable if she’s determined to keep the dog.
Thanks so much for your reply. I will forward the information you sent.
