Traveling to the SFO from Santiago de Compostela (SCQ) problems

Our small group is traveling in Northern Spain doing a small portion of the Camino. We will end up in Santiago de Compostela. I had no idea how difficult it would be to fly home to SFO from here. All routings involved two stops with very long (10 hrs) layovers. I have figured out that if we travel a couple days later our flight options are marginally better, but not significantly enough to stay two days longer. One idea is to take a train the Madrid, but even doing that we could not fly direct home. Does anyone have any helpful ideas? Thanks

Try using google flights. I saw several options for when I put in random dates since you didn’t provide that, Santiago de Compostela to Madrid to SFO and Santiago de Compostela to Barcelona to SFO. Yes, with long layovers but you’re not in an easy place to get out of.

You will probably be best breaking it up into two segments. Fly to Madrid and spend
the night. Then you can take the Iberia nonstop home the next day.

Since you don't state your travel date(s), I cannot say what is available on those days,
but the Mad-Sfo nonstop exists, so who knows why you aren't seeing it.
