My wife and I are going to take a cruise from Dubrovnik and then have to go to Italy when it is over. We have 4 1/2 days in between. Our choices are three places where I have never been, Vienna, Budapest or Prague. What do you suggest and what is the best way to get there?

Since you don't say where you are going in Italy it is hard to be too specific but any of your options will involve a lot of travel, probably with quite a bit of luggage. Why not rent a car in Dubrovnik, island hop up coast? There are frequent ferries, gorgeous scenery and many charming villages.

We have to be in Florence on October 19 at 6pm. Will arrive in Dubrovnik on October 15 at 7am, so we have about four days to go somewhere...

I've been to all 3 and I would vote for Prague. Fabulous, authentic old town. It was much less touristy than Western European cities.
I would fly there and not waste time on train travel.
