I'm having trouble finding a flight from San Sebastian (or close surrounding area) to the Avignon area. It appears that I will have to fly to a different city and take a train, but I'm not sure what my best option is. I've never been to this area of France.
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!
Your best bet is probably by train, altho it will take 8 or 9 hours. Plane flights to Avignon from just about anywhere will be horribly expensive, and take as long, or longer. First, you can take the local EuskoTren commuter train from San Sebastian to Hendaye, just across the French border (a couple of Euro, about half an hour), then a French train from there. Go to TGV Europe, the French national rail website, to check on times and fares available. You can purchase tickets on line by setting your country to Canada or Great Britain.
I don't know if this will help, but Avignon is less than an hour from Lyon and Marseilles by rail, and both have international airports.
