Traveling from Rome

What is the best way to go from Rome to Sienna, by bus or train?

Sue, You might want to delete your duplicate Threads, before it attracts any replies. Either option is good for travel from Rome to Siena. The trip by train usually involves one change (Chiusi?) and that will get you to the bottom of the hill which is where the station is located. You'll have to take a Taxi or whatever from there up to the town. The Sena Bus departs from Autostazione Tiburtina in Rome, and I believe the trip is about 3H:05M (current adult fare ~€21). The advantage of travelling by Bus is that passengers are dropped in town, saving a Taxi ride up the hill. Happy travels!

We've done it both ways. I prefer the train, and we often connect in Grossetto. I just like to be able to get up and walk around as I had a DVT and resulting PE years ago (two many rides in airplanes!). When we do ride the trian, we catch a city bus to the top of the hill. They are quite convenient. Or we just drive - which is our favorite mode of transport - up SS2.
