What is the easiest way to travel from Eden Marone in Riva del Garda to Lake Maggiore -- we are staying at the Simplon in Baveno. Thank you.

The easiest way is to drive, if you have a rental car. For directions use Google Maps. If you don't have a car, the train is your best option. The closest station to Riva is in Rovereto (on the Verona-Brenner line). Autobus Trentino transporti has buses connecting Riva to Rovereto. From Rovereto to your final destination take a train. You will likely have to change trains in Verona and Milano Centrale. Alternatively, instead of the Rovereto station you could take a bus from Riva to Desenzano, on the south Lake. Then from Desenzano you would take a train (change in Milan). APTV buses serve the Riva to Desenzano portion. For train schedules from either Rovereto or Desenzano, go to: www.trenitalia.com. Baveno has a train station, but Stresa is really next to it and might have more trains stopping there since it's bigger. See which station would be more convenient for you. For the bus to Desenzano look here. Via Desenzano is what I would do.
