Traveling from Nice, France to Genoa, Italy

Hello,

I am traveling from Nice to Genoa in January, an d looking for train ticket. I have searched a couple of times on EuroRail site and I get a message that it may be a two ticket deal.
I thought maybe it was too early, but I faked dates and got the same message.

Any advice?

1) Wrong website, that is a reseller in the USA that doesn't sell all trains or tickets.
2) The annual timetable change is in December. Times after that have not yet been published, so try for a date before December.

You can check times and buy tickets at: https://www.trainline.eu/
You can also use the French or Italian National Rail sites, but neither of those will sell tickets in the other country.

For info about trains from Nice to anywhere, see here: https://www.seat61.com/international-trains/trains-from-Nice.htm

So I need to buy a ticket from nice to the border and then a ticket from there to Genoa?
What city would I look for?

Thanks

hi kbd
it maybe too early to book. i use trainline.eu for train tickets, thello.com, oui.sncf are you traveling alone, are you a senior over 60 (discount), correct names for stations. bestofniceblog.com has a section about traveling by train nice to italy. hope this helps out.

Checked a random date using trainline,eu, in Nov for Nice to Genoa and found a no change trip of ~3 hours for 15 euro

For Jan it shows only the 4.5 hr bus ride for 8 euro

As noted earlier it appears you need to wait for the new schedule to publish in order to buy Jan tickets

No, I said https://www.trainline.eu/ will sell you tickets from Nice to Genoa. Some trains are direct (no change), some involve a change, but in either case Trainline will sell you a ticket end-to-end.
What I said was, IF you choose one of the options that involves a change of trains, then neither of the national sites would sell an end-to-end ticket, because neither sells foreign tickets, that is why I recommended Trainline.

And it is way too early to buy tickets. Tickets after the change in December will only appear late October or in November.

Thank you all

I appreciate the input.
Waiting until Dec 9 is tough on my OCD as my trip starts Dec 5. Plus trying to save as well as tie down all arrangements. I will try to be patient

Am looking forward to seeing all the countryside

The three daily direct trains between Nice and Genoa are operated by www.thello.com and are for sale there now for January travel, from 15 euros, or through our Rail Europe link from $20.

The departures that use regional trains with a connection at the border are those that can't be purchased, yet.
