Traveling from Barcelona to Rome

Can you take a ferry from Barcelona to Rome or Naples? If so, would that be a practical way to travel, or would flying be better?

Yes there is an overnight ferry from Barcelona to Civitavecchia. The Grimaldi ferry departs at 22:15 and arrives the next afternoon at 18:45. Flying is a lot faster and cheaper on a nice direct, non-stop flight on www.vueling.com
