Travel to Pisa Italy

Any suggestions on traveling from the US to Pisa. Am intertaining the idea of flying into a different country and taking train to Florence? Traveling in May. Thanks for all suggestions.

dianne, I'm not overly familiar with the flight options from your area, but you'll probably have more success finding flights to larger airports in Italy such as Milan / MXP. It's easy to travel by train from there to Pisa or Florence. Which city is your ultimate destination? Cheers!

For flights from STL to PSA, I see flights on either Delta, American or Air France. The best of the flights will get you to Pisa in just under 15hrs for about $950. You will change planes a minimum of twice each way. One thought is to fly into Pisa and out of another airport. If you wish to stay exclusively in Italy, this could be Venice or Rome. Or, you could exit through a different country. We flew into Florence and exited out of Zurich. Great trip. You have options. For your thoughts on a train to Florence, Pisa is one of only 4 airports in Italy with a Trenitalia train station right in the airport. You would change trains at Pisa Centrale (or go see the leaning tower which is probably what you wish to do). The train from Pisa to Florence takes just over an hour and costs 7.10Eu.

Hi Dianne. If your concern is price, you'll have to do some homework and see what your cheapest option is. You could look at flights from other U.S. cities like Chicago, and buy a separate round-trip ticket from STL to Chicago.
