Travel to London

I've been tracking fares for sometime and my husband and I are traveling to Europe Mid August-Mid Sept and want to fly in and out of LHR because of nonstop service from Seattle. For economy I'm getting around $1500.. will this go down?
BA is the only one I see that flies nonstop and we cant pick seats? Thanks!

$1500 sounds high even for BA. We fly BA from Seattle quite a bit, and usually find prices to Zurich (via LHR) around $1300 to $1400 in high season. But it looks like prices are running quite a bit higher this year. You do have other non-stop choices from Seattle: Air France to Paris, Condor to Frankfurt (new service), and KLM to Amsterdam. All of them appear to be $1500 or more except for the Condor flight to Frankfurt, which is just over $1000 for mid-August departures. As for picking seats on BA, you can do it at no charge when you check in online, 24 hours in advance. But you will be competing for your seats with lots of other people and you may not get what you want. For $30 (if in economy class) you can choose in advance, as soon as you have booked your tickets.
