I am planning a two week trip to Italy in February. I have three days planned in both Rome and Venice. I would like to head to Sorrento for a day or so and as well in Florence. I would love to go to Orvieto and Como. I am wondering if anyone thinks that it would be worth heading to Cinque Terre at this time of year. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks.
Time of year is not a problem so much as the number of days available. Unless you're going to omit something else the answer, politely phrased, is NOOOOOOO!
Hi Ann,
I have to agree with Ed. CT is not going to be worthwhile in February, and your schedule is already packed.
I'm assuming that 2 weeks includes your travel days, which means you really only have 12 days on the ground. 3 days apiece in Rome and Venice eats up half your time, and your other four choices are somewhat spread out. By the time you take out the time it takes to get from one location to the next, you aren't going to have more than a day/day and half in each location, which is a lot of moving around--more than most posters on this board would recommend.
Hi Ann - Actually, the time of year is all of it!!! February is cold and a lot of the enjoyment of Le Cinque Terre is walking the trails, especially the Via dell'amore section from Riomaggiore to Manarola. But, unfortunately I don't think you would care for the temps in February. I am Italian and would have to disagree with Ed that time of year doesn't mean anything. In Liguria, it means everything.
Ciao, Greg
