What is the best route to fly into the Dordogne region from the US?We will then go to Paris and depart from there to return to the US.
Do you mean, to where should you fly in? I'd look at Toulouse and Bordeaux.
I recommend flying into Bordeaux too.
I would also strongly recommend renting a car, in order to really make the most of the region.
Don't rule out Toulouse, especially if you might spend the night there before renting your car. It's a fascinating old city, great for strolling.
Not much info to go on. But I would fly into Bordeaux, rent a car drive east for 2 hours and you should be near Sarlat.
Thanks all. Has anyone tried the newest airport at Brives/Vallee de la Dordogne? If so, what was your starting point? Are there rental car agencies there? Is it a better (shorter, prettier) drive from that airport to the heart of the Dordogne region around Sarlat?
Stella, I do not know that airport, but the location is very good. The question would be can you get a flight to there the day you want, and at what price?
