travel thru portugal and spain

Arriving in Lisbon and departing from Barcelona over a 2 week period. Plan on spending a few days in Lisbon and heading down to the Algarve region. What is the best and most reasonable way of doing this? Where would you stay in the Algarve region? Planning on going to Seville from there. What would be the best and most reasonable way to get there? Is Granada worth going to after Seville? How would you get there? If we went to Granada, how would be get to Barcelona? Do you think this is a good itinerary? We are trying to plan it so that we are not traveling everyday. Your suggestions would be helpful. Thank-you

I know everyone is different and that Canadians might have a different perspective from Californians; however, it seems to me a big waste of time and money to go to a European beach resort area, when much nicer beaches are closer at hand in N. America. Granada, in contrast, has one of the most fabulous sights in the world, namely the Alhambra. Go to Granada! To address some of you other queries: getting from Lisbon (or the Algarve)to southern Spain is trickier than one might expect. We found the best option to be a bus. We flew from Granada to Barcelona on Vueling. Check them out. It was fast and not very expensive; but that was several years ago, and things change.

'heading down to the Algarve region. What is the best and most reasonable way of doing this? ' - I do not know what you want from 'best' or 'reasonable' journey wise. You can make your way to the vicinity, public transport wise, by bus - http://www.rede-expressos.pt/ or train - http://www.cp.pt/cp/displayPage.do?vgnextoid=87cbd5abe2a74010VgnVCM1000007b01a8c0RCRD&lang=pt Presuming you want somewhere to stay on the 160 km. beach/coastline, I cannot help. From anywhere on the Algarve to Seville it will be a bus ride - see detail here - http://www.algarvebus.info/001.htm 'Is Granada worth going to after Seville?' - Kidding, right? Train - http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html or bus www.alsa.es between Seville and Granada. Granada to Barcelona - train again or flight with at least - http://www.vueling.com/es# Do the maths. with the schedules of the companies I have provided and see if the travel time suits your pace. Do not forget to factor from accommodation door to accommodation door in unfamiliar surroundings.
