Looking at connection from the bus to the train it gives 10 min to make the connection. we are traveling Dec 13. Is this 10 min enough time to get from the bus to the train with getting all luggage from the bus?
Should be with the normal disclaimer if the bus is on time. The bus stops right in front of the station so it up the stairs and find the platform.
Tom, she is going from Prague to Nuernberg by bus and from Nuernberg to Munich by ICE. The connection is from the bus to the train. If the bus is late, I don't know that the ICE is going to wait very long, particularly since the next ICE is in about ½ hr. In Centennial Frank's case, last December, the ICE was very late due to ice on the tracks. The bus did not wait.
Not the same set-up then...
It's not a charter, it's a regularly scheduled express bus operated by the Bahn. It makes the trip about an hour faster than the regional train and fares qualify for an Europa-Spezial Tschechien fare. That's all the way from Munich to Prague or v-v. If you can get the €29 starting fare, it's a pretty good deal, but the lowest fares do sell out. If the lowest fares have sold out, the train, using a Bayern-Ticket, is a much better deal.
The Bahn schedule website shows the track number of the departing train. Knowing that in advance will help you go right to the correct platform. If the bus gets you there too late to catch your scheduled train, because of, for example icy roads, the Bahn will put you on the next ICE. On the other hand, if you miss the train because you are fussing with too much luggage, probably not. You can build stopover times into the schedule with Savings Fare tickets. If you are worried, or you know you have too much luggage, there are two ICEs per hour between Nuernberg and Munich. Put Nuernberg in for stopover and make the time 30 min (or whatever). It will give you more time in Nuernberg and put you on a later ICE to Munich. You'll probably get the same price but more time to catch the train. Of course, by the time you include the stopover time in Nuernberg, it will probably be just about a fast, and less expensive, to take the 9:10 direct train, EX 354, from Prague. It gets to Munich at 15:03. If you buy a Czech ticket in Prague to Furth im Wald, for about €10 in Czech Koruna, and a €29 Bayern-Ticket online from the Bahn, the two will cover you all the way to Munich for about €25 per person. One other trick. If you put in "local transport only", the Saving Fare will include an RE from Nuernberg to Munich. It looks like there is more time to catch the RE. Not only will you probably get a lower priced Savings Fare (because the lowest priced ticket with ICE sell out faster than with the RE), but the RE leg is not train specific. You can use any regional train from Nuernberg to Munich. Miss one train, take the next.
If it's the same set-up they used when I traveled the route back in 2006, the bus is a charter that sits there waiting for the train. Unless you walk away and hide for 10 minutes, you won't miss it.
