Travel passes in Switzerland

My family and I, twelve of us, will be in staying in Lauterbrunnen for a week in June 2011. We want to be able to access any of the cable cars, funiclulars, trains in that area over the course of our stay. What is the cheapest way to do this? I understand the Swiss Card is good, but does anybody know of any other travel pass options that will give us unlimited access over the course of a week for the least cost?

Click the "Railpasses" tab above for a description of all the various cards and passes. More than likely one of the Swiss Passes will be best for you.

"Unlimited access" is tough. None of the passes will fully cover the cost of going up the Jungfraujoch or Schilthorn; the best you can do is 50%, and for the Jungfraujoch only a Swiss Card (not pass), Half-fare Card, of Juhgfraubahn Pass will give you 50%. This last one might be what you want. Here is what the MySwitzerland.com website says about it: "The Jungfraubahnen Pass is a personal pass, valid for six consecutive days. It entitles the holder to unlimited travel on the route network of the Jungfrau Railways (50% off Eigergletscher–Jungfraujoch). The Jungfraubahnen Pass is on sale from 1 May to
31October from your hotel or camping site, and from local travel agencies, tourist offices or stations of the Jungfrau Railways." Cost is 190 CHF for adults. (You should be sure and get Family Cards for any kids under 16 and they will travel with you for free). The nice thing about this one is that it will fully cover the lifts and gondolas over on the Grindelwald side, such at the gondola down from Mannlichen and the First gondola, which you will want to do if you have kids (Trotti Bikes and the First Flyer which is kids of a zipline but with seats). On the other hand, this pass won't give you any reduction on the Schilthorn trip. And it doesn't cover the boats in the area at all.
