Travel Pass London

Hi Steve: We are travelling to England in August and we are wanting to purchase 4 Travel Passes. 2 questions: 1. If we buy the passes online and have them mailed is the 2/1 ticket purchase at the specified attractions still valid or do they need to be purchased once we are in London. 2. On the website where you can purchase the Travel Passes they do not have a 3 day ticket option. Is the 3 day ticket purchase only available in London or is this no longer offered. Thanks for your assistance

Mary, I just asked "Lisa" the same question and, sure enough, up popped the information you gave in your post. However, entering "three-day travelcards" in the search box at the top of the right-hand side of the homepage brings up a reference to only one-day and seven-day travelcards. I still think "Lisa" is in need of an update, especially since the TFL site no longer lists the three-day travelcards.

Tim, you're probably right about "Lisa". We normally use pay-as-you-go Oysters when visiting, so I never had the need to purchase separate travelcards. But we are visiting again this fall, and we plan on getting the 7-day travelcards for Zones 1-2 from a National Rail station to take advantage of the 2-for-1 deals. We'll use our Oysters to get to Heathrow on day 8.

(1) Paper travelcards must be purchased from a National Rail station to be valid for the Days Out 2 for 1 offers. The online travelcards will not be valid. (2) Three day travelcards are no longer available.

Roger, Chip is correct that you must purchase the Travelcards in person at a Rail Station, not a tube station or on-line. But, 3-Day Travelcards are still available. Here is information from the National Rail site : 3-Day Travelcards are valid for any three consecutive days and are available in both Peak and Off-Peak versions. •Peak 3-Day Travelcards are valid from 0001 on the first day of validity until 0430 on the day following the expiry date.
•Off-peak 3-Day Travelcards are valid from 0930 on the first day of vailidity until 0430 on the day following the expiry date. They are valid for unlimited travel on National Rail, London Underground, Docklands Light Railway, and Croydon Tramlink services within the London Fares Zone for which the ticket is issued, and on all London bus services throughout the London bus network. If you buy an Off-Peak 3-Day Travelcard for all London Zones, up to 4 children aged 5-15 may accompany each fare-paying adult for a £1 flat fare! Up to date prices for Travelcards within the London Fares Zone are available at the Transport for London (TfL) website. View TfL's 'Tickets and Fares' page.

I wonder if Mary came across an old and out of date page on the National Rail site. In a search I just did on the National Rail site I found no reference to three-day travelcards. And the Transport for London site hasn't listed them for over a year.

I went onto the National Rail website (nationalrail.co.uk) today and used the "Ask Lisa" feature by typing in London Travelcards. The info I posted was copied and pasted directly from "her" reply.
