travel next week Copenhagen to Germany

Please advise! I will be in Copenhagen with my daughter and would like to travel to Lubeck and then Berlin on Dec 12. I looked at the prices on ICE and they are very high. Is there another option? Does anyone know if I can use a Eurailpass (we will be traveling in germany as well) and whether I can get it before we leave the US or just get it in Copenhagen? Many thanks! I apologize that this is so last minute.

You didn't say how long you wanted to stay in Lubeck. Use the German Rail (Bahn) website, not RailEurope. The Bahn will let you buy tickets online with your CC and print them at home. Right now I see a connection from Kopenhagen (9:45) to Lubeck (13:37) for €78 for 2 people. I see another connection from Lubeck (18:09) to Berlin (20:33) by regional train and IC for €79 for 2. So you are looking at less than €160 for both of you. These are Savings fare tickets, which are train specific and non-refundable. They require at least 3 days advance purchase.

Thank you so much! I was getting quite confused about the type of ticket/how to get it and you have solved the problem. Thank you again!

This is obviously less than the lowest price for multi-day rail passes, but is only one day of travel. Without knowing where else you are going in Germany it's kind of hard to know if a rail pass will pay, but in my experience, unless you have a lot of long distance travel, point-point tickets, using the Savings fares and regional passes ( Länder tickets) will cost less.

I am sorry that I didn't mention how long we would be in Lubeck. I actually wasn't sure since this is a very last-minute trip and I am trying to co-ordinate with several people along the way. The train times you noted in your original reply sound ideal...my daughter just wanted to stop to see the Christmas markets for a brief time in Lubeck. Thank you again!
