We will be arriving in Milan by train (Milano central) Oct 2 and wish to get to the airport. Is the malpensa Express the best option. Can tickets be purchased at the train station the day of travel or is it recommended to purchase ahead? Thanks, Janie
Yes, as long as you are already at Centrale, might as well get the Malpensa Express train right there. You can buy the ticket at the station. There is a self-service machine at track 3, or at the main ticket counter. http://www.malpensaexpress.it/en/malpensa-express/tickets/where-to-buy-tickets.aspx
The train is probably best, but just for completeness, there are also direct buses from Milano Centrale to Malpensa. Two different companies run this service, and between them there are four buses per hour. No advance purchase necessary; just be aware that each company only accepts its own tickets, so be sure you bought a ticket for the bus that's leaving next.
Janie, One point to clarify - are you going to MXP Terminal 1 or Terminal 2? That will have a bearing on which method of transportation to use. Cheers!
