What costs do you figure in when the insurance company asks the "cost of trip" I have no idea what to figure into the "cost". At what point is this a figure relevant? Flight, Car rental? None of the insurance sites have qualified this question. Thanks
I add in flights, hotels, car rentals, prepaid train tix, etc. Basically the non-refundable costs you would still have to pay if you had some problem during the trip and had to return home.
Usually in a group tour - like an RS tour - it would be all the amount you will need to pay upfront before you leave. Also the airline and rail pass etc. Usually there is a special caveot for extra coverage if you sign up within 14 or 21 days of paying the deposit - so check for that if its a benefit/issue etc. If you didnt pre-pay for anything (doing it on your own) and used miles (paid a small fee vs a 1500$ ticket) - then you dont have much out of pocket up front - and you may just consider a medical evac coverage instead of trip interuption.
