Is it feasible to travel by train and bus in the Loire, Brittany and Normandy? We'd rather not rent a car but are considering it in these regions.
Have done that trip. First the Loire valley, then up to Brittany then Normandy and back to Paris. Don't know how you could do it without a car. There are so many wonderful places to visit that are available only by car.
We are doing that same trip starting next Sunday. Once you get out of Paris, traffic and the general driving experience is quite easy, certainly different that the US, but not difficult at all. With a rental car, you have the advantage of being on YOUR timetable, and can be much more flexible in what you see and what you may elect to skip. Another suggestion: we have driven in Europe both with and without a GPS. I would HIGHLY recommend it.
Okay, we may need to accept that fact that we'll need a car, but is there anyone out there who has done it without a car?
