I would love advice on getting from Montepulciano to Assisi as directly as possible. I know I can take the bus from Montepulciano to Cortona to Perugia and then I guess on to Assisi--or a 2/3 hr train to Perugia. Any "easier" ideas via train and/or bus? Molto grazie. Ron

Have you looked at the bus from Montepulciano to Chiusi (T2, T4, about an hour) then train from Chiusi to Assisi about 2 hours.
