Travel in england & Scotland

Leaving 10-15 to Newcastle. Going to Edinburgh 17th-20th (Would like day trip to Stirling). Back to Newcastle for two nights. On to Windermere for two nights, then to York for two nights then back to Newcastle on 26th. Fly out 27th. Would like to use trains. Should we buy tickets ahead of time or is it ok to wait until we get there.

You certainly can wait until you get there to buy tickets. However, advance online discount fares are sold for two of your routes, Newcastle-Edinburgh and York-Newcastle. The best site for booking is www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com because it is one of the few train companies that will process North American credit cards online. Go to that site and check the fares for all of your dates.

Note: If you wait to buy tickets, you can use your credit card at any staffed station.
