travel in croatia

We are looking for flights from Ljubljana to Amsterdam Is it OK to book with things like One air and CheapO and sites like that. Do they guarantee the flight We can't seem to get on any of the Airlines that they list to go directly with the airline. Somebody out there HELP! We have traveled a lot but we have not made arrangements for flights in Europe before and are not sure how to do it. We are looking at Adria airlines, anybody book with them?

If you use a booking site to purchase air tickets and anything goes wrong, you could have a lot of difficulty in straightening things out. I fly around Europe every summer for the last 11 of 12 years and I always book directly with whatever airline I choose to fly. That way, as happened in Seattle with Lufthansa two years ago when they went on strike, we were taken care of a lot sooner with better connections, than a lot of folks we encountered in the line ups. This may cost a little more but for our peace of mind, it is well worth it to us.

Where are you looking? I remember your previous post about trying to do open jaw and that you are travelling from Ljubljana to AMS to DFW. Overall, booking flights in Europe is not any harder than booking US flights. I tend to use Kayak, find the cheapest fares and then go the airline's website for the actual booking. Adria airlines is fine. I assume, from your previous post, that you will only be in transit in AMS? You should remember that you will need to fully exit AMS and check-in as new if you have two separate journeys/bookings. Sounds like a pain to me. I noted in your previous post that I found decent fares from Ljubljana to DFW on kayak as one itinerary. Anyway, you should also remember that Ljubljana is in Slovenia, not Croatia.

We will be spending time in Amsterdam so changing to another airport shouldn't be a problem. Will we get some kind of confirmation from the airline when we book the flight like you get when you book train tickets on the high speed trains in Spain?

Have you ever bought tickets online? If so, whether you buy them online for a US flight or a flight in Europe, it is the same procedure. Buy the ticket, you are sent an email with a confirmation number and a receipt of your purchase. If you can do online check-in, enter the confirmation number on the airline's website and print your tickets in advance. Or you can just show up at the airport with the confirmation and check-in (sometimes you are charged if you don't pre-print the tickets, but you can review the airline policy in advance). Alternatively, if you can't print, you can have the ticket sent to your smart phone.

To make it even simpler, say you lose your phone, confirmation number, email copy, and preprinted boarding pass.......... ..........and walk up to the kiosk or counter and can somehow remember your name..........you'll hop on the plane just as quickly.
