I need to get from any airport in the London are to Salzburg on a Thursday (April 27). I'm failing to find direct flights. Does anyone know of some that I am missing, or an alternate method (for example, fly to Munich, take train would work - is there something better?)

Just like in the US, not all cities have direct flights to everywhere. Salzburg is relatively small and as such does not get a lot of direct flights from major hubs like London and Frankfurt.. Munich would be one choice and the train from there but it is not quick. But you should be able to book something from London with one stop.

Ryanair still shows going there direct from Stansted airport. 4/27 flight departs 18:25 & arrives 21:15

Bad typing, Thursday is April 26. Only direct flight was over 300 USD per person (too much imo). For some reason there are no Ryan air flights that day (my luck). Think we're going to fly into Munich and try the train :/

Flying to munich and taking the train to salzburg is pretty easy, the train trip is only 90 minutes on a high speed train.

Munich flight and take a train is the best option. Salzburg is a great place. I absolutely love spending an afternoon at the Augustiner Brewery in April in the outside garden.
