Steve: You said the train was much cheaper...how do you know because the bahn website doesn't display fares? Just curious

According to the Swiss Rail website the advance non-refundable fare is 162 Swiss Francs. http://www.rail.ch

The advance purchase discount fare Michael quoted is for daytime travel with one connection in Milano. Book on the Swiss Rail site.
There is also a direct night train. Advantage: It saves you the cost of a night in a hotel and gives you more daylight hours for sightseeing. Disadvantage: You won't be able to enjoy looking at the Alps through the window. To get fares for the night train, go to the Swiss Rail site, enter your departure date, select the night train and the type of sleeping accommodations you wish, and ask for a fare quote to be sent to you by e-mail.
