We're a family of 4 traveling in April to Italy to visit family. Any suggestions as to how to get from Rome to Taranto or Brindisi without having to purchase an Alitalia ticket from the US. Could an Itlian relative buy cheaper within-Europe tickets and mail them to us? Any other airlines other than Alitalia? We have had one bad trip after another with Alitalia.
Tim "hit the nail on the head". We used Air One for our return trip from Brin to Rome last June...they were wonderful (only $110 E for the 2 of us...cheaper than the train)
On the advice of a friend we rented a car in Rome, and used it to drive to Puglia, and explore the area. The drive was beautiful, and fun.
Use whichbudget.com to see all the airlines that fly between Rome and Brindisi(or anywhere else in Europe)
You can easily book tickets online yourself on any European budget airline. Try Air One at www.flyairone.it/en.
Or take the train. There are direct day trains and there is also a night train route with a change in Ancona. See www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html for timetables and fares.
