We are dropping a car off in Rijeka, Croatia in Septmeber and picking up another in Trieste but have not found an easy way to travel between the two. Does anyone have experience with the trains or buses for this route?

We took a very nice, comfortable bus from Rijeka to Trieste in Sept. 2006. Left at 2 pm, arrived in Trieste at 4:30 pm. We spent the night in Trieste; there's a Tourist Information Office attached to the bus/train station, where a very helpful lady showed us a variety of hotels available. We had a great dinner at the White Elephant restaurant and enjoyed walking along the port and the beautiful piazza.

We are wanting to do almost this same thing. Did you have good luck with the bus? This is what i'm trying to figure out: I'm returning a car in Rijeka on a Sunday morning, then want to catch a 5 pm train from Trieste to Venice so that we can then catch an 8:45 pm flight from Venice to Paris (frequent flier miles tickets have dicatated our inconvenient but very lovely departure city!). I've found a bus schedule on-line but it looks like buses don't run between these two cities on Sundays in August. Does anyone have better information about traveling between these two cities? thank you! tina
