What is the best way to travel from Prague to Nurnberg? Where can I get a timetable?
Via bahn bus. Go to bahn.de
This is the best webpage for finding schedules and buying tickets on the Bahn website. You can enter "Prag" (German spelling) for Prague; it will still show you "Praha hl.n. (Autobusova St Wilsonova)", the bus stop in the main station in Prague. The bus is the fastest way if you are going directly from the bus stop in Prague to the Hbf in Nürnberg, but it is non-stop, so, if you wanted to go to other than Nürnberg, you'd still have to go through Nürnberg. The price is good only if you commit to a non-refundable ticket for a certain date and time and purchase far enough in advance to get a low fare. Otherwise full fare is a little more than 50€. On the other hand, for the train, which is 1½ hour slower to Nürnberg Hbf, you can go to anywhere in Bavaria, not just the Nürnberg Hbf, for the same fare. Purchase a Bayern-Ticket, online at the Bahn website, for 22€, single, 26€ for 2, and a Czech Rail ticket to Furth im Wald for less than 10€/P, in Prague. The Bayern-Ticket covers your travel to anywhere in Bavaria on regional trains and is not train specific (it is date specific if you buy it online, but costs the same if you buy it the day of travel in the station). Example: Prague to Bamberg using Czech Rail tickets and a Bayern-Ticket would cost about 46€ for two. You could get a Europa-Spezial-Ticket for the bus to Nürnberg and RE to Bamberg, but it would cost 58€ for two. Or, if you wanted to go to Regensburg, the train goes direct in just over 4 hours; changing from the bus to a train in Nürnberg takes 5 hours.
