travel from Pamplona, Spain to Angers, France

I am hoping someone has more experience with the train/bus system than I do. :)
Flights are very costly and my friend and I need to find a way to meet a group in Angers July 13th.
We will have been walking a piece of the Camino Frances and need to travel from Pamplona.

I tried without success to determine the best way to do this trip. Seems it is 6.5 hours by car.
Train or bus would work.

Any help you could offer is appreciated.

Sincere thanks.

Looks like you will be in Pamplona during the "Running of the Bulls".
There is a bus leaving Pamplona at 8:30 am, gets to Hendaye, France railway station at 10 am, about 11 euro.

From there, you can get a train to Angers at 10:42 am, changing in Bordeaux and Tours (St Pierre des Corps) arriving 6:22 pm. It has a 67.20 euro Leisure fare.
You will need to travel on the 12th for a meeting on the 13th.

Since trains don't leave Pamplona toward Irun until 11:00 (with connections getting you to Angers at 22:30), the bus recommended above helps you get an earlier start on this long travel day.

For travel from Hendaye, Rick’s France rail travel page has the link and tips for buying “Prems” rate TGV tickets through SNCF (cheap, reserved, nonrefundable, available three or four months ahead of your travel date) to print at home and pay with PayPal. It does not tend to work with US credit cards, unless you have an extra level of security set up.
