Travel from Nuremberg/Rothenburg to Paris

Hello,
We’ll be in Nuremberg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany, and then need to get to Paris.

We’re wondering:

Can we get there by train or plane from Nuremberg or Rothenburg?

Any advice on routes, train types, or towns to stay overnight that would make it easy to reach the Eiffel Tower area by around 3:00 pm would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Take the train, you can get there from Nuremberg with a single change in either Stuttgart of Frankfurt in 6 1/2 to 7 hours. Given all the logistics and hassle of taking a plane (travel between airport and city canter, 2 hour advance check in, security, baggage check fees), the train has it beat.

Rothenburg is a little longer and more train changes given its out-of-the-way location. But that said, travel to an airport is even trickier.

I agree that a plane is more trouble than it's worth. But unless you are all earlybirds, I wouldn't recommend trying this from Rothenberg odT. The 0656 train, with 3 connections, gets you into Paris Gare de l'Est a bit after 1400. Then you still need to get yourself and all your luggage over to your ET location in less than an hour. There's an even early series of trains leaving at 0444.

Frankfurt gets you there in less time and there's a direct train leaving at 0856 that gets into Paris at 1252
