In September we will be traveling from Munich to Nuremberg to catch a Viking River cruise. Is it a good idea to take the train and find transportation to the boat? We don't no how far it is from the train to the docks. Has anyone done this or know a good way to get there.

I'm not sure where the Viking boat dock is in Nürnberg, but there is a lot of public transportation in Nürnberg. You can probably use it to get from the train station to the dock. Note, if you go by Regional Express (RE) it will take a little longer, but you can use a Bayern-Ticket. In addition to the RE from Munich to Nürnberg, the Bayern-Ticket will cover local transportation in Nürnberg. According to the Viking website, you should take a taxi to the dock, which is near Nürnberg Hafen Ost. That might be the best option if you are unfamiliar with German public transportation. However, I would use the local transit. According to the Bahn, It is a 15 min walk from the Finkenbrunn stop on streetcar #5. Or, it is a 6 min walk from the Rotterdamer Str. bus stop. Take the U2 from the Hbf to Röttenbach; take bus 67 from there.
