travel from milan center to MXP airport

will be traveling from milan center(near central station) to MXP airport for flight back home. What time do shuttles start running? our flight is at 10am. Is it better to stay near station with train to MXP? If so, does that train start running early enough?

Hi Denise,

Jeff posted some great info--the bus begins running (from the Central Train station) at 4:30 a.m. and takes about 50 minutes-1 hour. I'd stay in Milan (you can search this site for recommendations), take the bus from the train station to Malpensa in time to check in for your 10:00 a.m. flight. If you stay near the station and pack light there should be no need to take a cab.

If you want to stay near the airport here's a link to Doug's post:

We took a cab to the train shuttle and had plenty of time before our 10:30a.m. flight last year. The shuttle bus is good but vulnerable to traffic. George,Pgh
(Is that Milford, Ct. by the way?)

From Rick's Italy 2010: Taxis are at a fixed rate of 85 Euro. From Milan to Malpensa Airport Rick recommends taking a taxi to the Cadorna station then the Malpensa Express (E11) takes 40 minutes, generally departs Cadorna at :27 and :57 past the hour from 5:57-23:27. malpensaexpress.it.

denise,

You could take either the Malpensa Shuttle from Milano Centrale to MXP or the Malpensa Express from Cadorna station to MXP.

My suggestion would be to use the Malpensa Express as it's quite inexpensive (about €11), only takes about 40 minutes and is not affected by traffic issues. DON'T forget to validate the ticket!

If you stay near Via Dante, it's only about a 5-minute Taxi ride to Cadorna station. I recently stayed at the London Hotel (listed in the Guidebook) and found that a convenient location both for walking to the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele, as well as getting to Cadorna station.

There's a ticket office at Cadorna station, so you could buy your tickets the day before you'll be travelling to save a bit of time. There's a coffee bar close to the departure point for the Malpensa Express, so easy to get a cup of coffee and a pastry for the trip.

Happy travels!

we stayed near Central Station (Hilton) and took the shuttle for 7 euros--easy and quick. A bus is leaving every 15 minutes or so--we had a 10:30 flight and got a 7:20 shuttle--it's a reverse commute to the airport--we were there by 8. Just buy ticket on board---facing train station from the road, bus are to the right. The shuttle was SUPER easy, reliable and cheap!
